Events and Projects
To promote inclusion, reduce isolation and raise self confidence WCV attend many local events as stewards/marshals and undertake projects that benefit the wider community.
As an example we have renovated local community halls, created a low maintenance garden for elderly residents, and have supplied support to Dorset Police to help with graffiti removal in the local town.
Quote from Former-Mayor, Cllr Kate Wheller:-
"In my own village WCV supplied the skills and manpower to refurbish own hall which we would have been unable to do without them. The hall is now used daily by local community groups. Weymouth would be a poorer place without the help of WCV."

Supported employment is a very personalised approach to matching the right person to the right job. Employers are seen as key customers for supported employment services. After all, without employers there would be no jobs. Our aim is to successfully place someone into sustainable work. That involves close working with the jobseeker and the employer.
If YOU have been out of the workplace or not been able to work before, we understand how hard it can be to even imagine that you can get a job and keep it. There are ways to work and keep some or all of your benefits.
We can arrange a Better Off In Work interview.
We can accompany/support you at appointments.
We can help you prepare an up to date CV.
We can help you access education or training.
We can help you with job search/applications.
We can support you in the workplace .

A Volunteers Perspective
I came to Weymouth in March, 2008 just starting to get over, and through a 15 year addiction of alcohol and various illicit substances. On top of this I was still coming to terms, and trying to accept my 75% sight loss from a head injury. I was a broken man and wanted to make positive changes to my life.
About a month after coming to Weymouth it was suggested I visit WCV as they help people, with similar backgrounds to mine to develop good structure in their lives through volunteering. I found WCV to be very friendly and welcoming. Over the last 4 years I have volunteered many times and on numerous occasions I have gone in to schools and Weymouth College to give my 'first hand' account of the depths, of substances used but also the detrimental lifestyle that goes with it.
I have now been offered a paid position with the Prison Service and I am currently undertaking induction training.
I am so very grateful for all the help and guidance given to me by all the staff at Weymouth Community Volunteers. My life is back on track and the future is looking bright.
